WHAT IS PIP?
Personal Injury Protection is a no-fault component of auto insurance that covers expenses from injury, including medical expenses, lost wages, substitute services (such as having to hire a maid to clean your home, a nanny to care for your child, or other duties you cannot perform in your home due to injury), and funeral services. In Oregon, all auto insurance policies are required to cover $15,000 per person for injury expenses incurred for up to two years after the accident. Your policy ,may have higher coverage depending on your specific plan. In any event, “no-fault” means the PIP is supposed to pay injured persons regardless of who is at fault in the accident.
